Pastel Art
I’m Christine Petersen – a Danish pastel artist working and living in Copenhagen.
Pastel art is based on an art medium in the form of a pencil and pieces of chalk. The pigments used in dry pastels are similar to those used to produce other coloured visual arts media, such as oil paints. The colour effect of pastels is closer to the natural dry pigments than that of any other artwork.
Pastels have been used by artists since the Renaissance, and gained considerable popularity in the 18th century, when a number of notable artists made pastel their primary medium.
About my drawing style
My style of art is photorealistic drawings, which pastels are perfect for. I am aiming to create art that reflects the beauty and power of humans in a society in constant development. Where the concept of beauty, femininity and masculinity are constantly being reinvented and questioned. You can see my art and come visit me in the studio in Art Escape Studios, Blegdamsvej 68, 2100 København Ø.
